Delhi High Court restrains fake Amazon domain names

Delhi High Court has taken strict action against two domain names that were infringing upon the trademarks of Amazon. The domains were trying to fraud people in the garb of offering a chance to set up Amazon Easy Store.

Two domain names namely AmazonBuys.com and EStoreAmazon.in were used to organize the fraudulent campaign. Amazon Easy is a new program by the E-Commerce conglomerate. The program allows interested people to establish an Amazon Easy Store.

The domain names in question were asking the people for a fee in order to avail that Amazon Easy Store. The websites at these domains copied the original website at Amazon.in. Amazon Sellers Services Private Limited thus entered the Court.

The Court suspended the usage of the domains until the next hearing. Meanwhile, the court authorised the Telecom authorities to block access to these domain names.
