Public Interest Registry, the company that manages the .org has appointed its new Chief Technology Officer. The company has appointed the vastly experienced Rick Wilhelm at its senior most technology post.
Rick has a plethora of working knowledge related to domain name registry and registrar services. Rick had been earlier working as VP Platform Management for VeriSign, the registry for .com,.net and .name gTLDs. Along with this he has also worked for CSC; GridPoint, Inc. ; WealthEngine; Network Solutions and NeuStar. He was also a member of the ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee for 3 years and 10 months.
PIR is a non-profit company that was established by the Internet Society for maintenance of .org. Along with .org, the company also started .ngo and .ong gTLDs. Some time ago, the company was at the centre of debate, related to the supposed shedding off the non-profit nature of .org extension.
