The Ukraine Crisis has left Europe in disarray. Amid tension in Ukraine, Russia also talked about attacking other countries, that included Sweden and Finland. Following this, earlier week both the countries applied for NATO membership.
Although the applications haven’t been completely accepted yet, this news has created a buzz in the continent as well as among the citizens. A Finnish brewing company has come up with a unique product to support their country’s cause.
Olaf Brewing has launched a new beer. The beer has been named Otan olutta. The meaning of the full term is ‘I’ll have some beer’. However, there’s another hidden meaning hidden in this name.
OTAN, the first term of the beer is the reverse of NATO. Also, in French, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is called Organisation du traité de l’Atlantique nord, which is abbreviated as OTAN. The first term of the beer is also a nod to the French name version of the organisation.
The beer gleefully presents the country’s move to join NATO, amidst pressure from Russia to not do so. The beer is also a joke on Russia’s war effort.
Everyone expected the war to be quicker than it has been. Russia’s difficulty in taking over a significantly small country is surprising. The beer brand takes a jab at this war. As if saying, a beer is all Finnish need to defend their country against Russia.
