Financial Industry Regulatory Authority warns about an ongoing phishing campaign

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FIRA) has announced the presence of an ongoing phishing campaign. The campaign is spearheaded by the impersonation of the Regulatory Authority.

The authority announced that a number of people were receiving emails that claimed to be from a representative from the FIRA. The phishing campaign deploys the domain name Claims-FINRA.org. We want to categorically mention here that this domain name is malicious, DOES NOT belong to the FIRA and should be stayed away from.

The phishing campaigns employed the tactics of sending emails to victims, belonging to the above mentioned domain name. The emails ended with @Claims-FINRA.org.

The email claims to be from the Risk Management department of FINRA. The email urges victims to click on a link sent in the emails. FINRA has warned users to NOT CLICK on such phishing emails.

FINRA is a private entity that regulates its participating brokerage firms and exchange market. FINRA along with other members of the Security sector are regulated by the federal organization called US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

It’s concerning to hear about an ongoing phishing campaign targeting the financial industry. It’s important for individuals and organizations to be vigilant against these types of attacks and to take steps to protect their sensitive information. This is a reminder to stay cautious when receiving unsolicited emails or messages and to always verify the legitimacy of the sender and the content before taking any action.
