Court fines the operators of pirated domain name

A US court has fined the operators of a Ukraine based chain of piracy sites. The US Court for the Western District of Washington has decided against one Kiss Library for infringing upon the copyrighted products of the plaintiffs. The Plaintiffs were several writers, Penguin Random House LLC and Amazon Content Services LLC.

Kiss Library operated through a network of malicious domain names. The domain names include KissLibrary.com, KissLibraryEmails.com, KissLibrary.net, Kissly.net, etc. You can read the full list of domain names on Page 14, Line 21-24, here.

The Court found the defendant guilty of 52 acts of copyright infringement. The Court awarded the maximum penalty of $150,000 on each act of infringement. This led to a total fine of $7.8 million.
