There has been some change at the top level management of GoDaddy Inc. The biggest domain name registrar has announced a change in its Board of Directors.
Charles Robel who had become a member of the Board in 2014. In 2015, he was appointed as the Chair of the Board. After 7 years of service, Mr. Robel is going to step down from top position.
Brian Sharples who had become a Board member in 2016, is going to become the new Chairman. Although Mr. Robel would leave the Chair, he will continue to be a member of the Board until the company’s annual stockholder’s meeting in 2023.
Although the company has stated no reason, there has been a conservative environment around the company’s stocks. The company has been a brilliant option for long term investments with 78% increase in share prices over the past 5 years. However, the stock returned just 3.7% in the last year.
With the growing support for blockchain domain names and entities like Ethereum and Unstoppable Domains, GoDaddy certainly feels cautious. Could this change be an action to mitigate that? Answer us in the comments.
